The MU 2000 is ENVIPCO's (and the industry's) most sophisticated and technically advanced reverse vending machine. It is the result of more than 10 years of developmental work to make recycling convenient and easy for consumers and the retailers. The MU 2000 has the following features:

One Container Opening

The MU 2000 allows the consumer to use one machine instead of three by accepting cans, glass, and plastic through a single continuous feed port.

Vacuum System Means"Hands Off" for Retailers

After each container is scanned and accounted for, each type of commodity is densified (shredded) and moved to large silos via pneumatic vacuum tubes. When the storage silos approach capacity, a vacuum truck is automatically dispatched to evacuate the silos using vacuum hoses that are inserted through openings on the silos and move the commodity at a speed of about 60 miles per hour to separate compartments within the truck.

Greater Storage Capacity

The commodity storage silos of the MU 2000 have the capacity to hold approximately 31,000 cans, 17,200 plastic containers, and 21,078 glass containers. The greater storage capacity of the MU 2000 reduces the number of times the machine must be emptied, and since the silos may be located away from the face of the machine, the silos can be kept in a convenient location in the store.

• The MU 2000 will call ENVIPCO when service is required or when the silos are approaching capacity.
• Each MU 2000 entry port can process 30 cans, 28 plastic containers, or 30 glass bottles per minute.
• A typical MU 2000 site with three consumer entry ports can service customers returning more than 450,000 containers per month.

Consumer Choice

The retailer may elect to have the machine dispense either coins or a printed voucher with the total refund to be redeemed in the store. The deposit may also be designated as a charitable contribution from the consumer if the "donation to local charity" button is pushed.
